Avi Zev Weider

Avi Zev Weider is the writer/director of ZEROES AND ONES, the story of a young woman who in creating an intelligent machine out of discarded computer parts, uncovers her grandmother's long-buried secret of her survival from Auschwitz. This script was awarded the 2007 IFP Market Emerging Narratives Screenplay Award, the Panasonic Digital Filmmaking Grand Prize, the Atlanta Film Festival Screenplay Award and was a Nicholl Fellowship quarterfinalist. In May 2008, the script went through the Hamptons Screenplay Lab as an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation science and technology themed project. ZEROES AND ONES has been selected to attend the upcoming IFP Independent Film Week (formerly IFP Market) in the No Borders co-production section.


As a producer, Avi is producing the upcoming documentary, SUITCASE PIMP. He was also Associate Producer on the 2007 BAFTA nominated 30TH CENTURY MAN and CINEMANIA.


Avi's short film, I REMEMBER premiered at the 1998 Sundance Film Festival. This film, starring John Cameron Mitchell (HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH) and Executive Produced by novelist and filmmaker Paul Auster went on to a very long festival run. His company Loop Filmworks produced commercials for such clients as HBO, Disney, MTV, Nickelodeon, Bravo, Trio and the Sci-Fi Network.


Avi is the recipient of a 2008 New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) fellowship in screenwriting.
